Goats Project

A farmer feeding goats which gives 2 liters per day .
Goat milk is recommended for people living with HIV? AIDS as it increases their immunity, but goat milk is very difficult to get in Kenya. Special German goats are known to produce an abundance of milk and to often give birth to twins. Contribution from US and some funds from the sale of bookmarks made in the women’s Empowerment center have resulted in sufficient funds to purchase 7 goats, a few of which have already gone to widows raising orphans. Because demand for those goats is high and the goat are difficult to find. A goat-breeding center is being established on the vacant lot next to the church. This program will breed goats for the goat program and also encompasses selling baby goat to other groups. The church has received a government permit, and the government veterinarian has
offered free veterinary services for the goats at all times. The project is based upon giving a family a goat to raise, breed and produce milk for their own family; they would be able to sell the excess milk to bring in some income, and the manure can be used for fertilizer. Each family selling the excess milk should receive a minimum of $ 2/day from such sales, which is twice the average daily income in Kenya. The first-born goat goes to the program to be given to another family
