Women’s Empowerment Center And Youth’s Computer Training.
Sewing Dressmaking Tailoring school Computer Classes.

Students studying in a computer lab.
The average wage in Kenya is $1 a day. In 2004, Nakuru UMC started a program to train women in dressmaking, sewing, tailoring, bookmark making, yarn making and computer training for the youths. A total of 240 women, 72 youths, and 24 men have been trained to date. We have 5 treadle sewing machines and homemade spinning wheel. After two years of the program, 45 women, 7 men and 13 youth have secured employment with local businesses. The people who come to the center (which is located in the ground of the church property) are so poor they cannot pay $50 it cost for the full course, which has made it hard to pay the trainer’s salary.
